The Ambassador Comes To Dinner
As the saying goes "We Are What We Eat" and while that usually refers to our state of health depending on our chosen diet, it also reflects who we are as people and where we live.
In England the staple diet is traditionally based on Bread or Potatoes. In Italy Pasta, Asia Rice, Japan Fish and so on. But how much do we really know about what others enjoy as everyday meals in each country around the World?
I believe we can learn a great deal about our neighbours if we understand what the family sits down to eat together at the end of an average day. I don't mean by sampling the menu at our local Italian or Chinese Restaurant, I mean by experiencing what can be expected on the family table in any average home on a Thursday evening when everyone shares an evening meal together.
I propose to find this out for myself by traveling to every country to take a place, as a guest, in average homes to share a meal with a real family.
Myself and a photographer will accept any invitation to attend and report from any table we are invited to anywhere in the World.
The rules are simple:
The food must be exactly what the host family regularly enjoy at least once a week.
It must be prepared in the home.
The setting must be absolutely as it is every day of the week.
We must be provided with a full explanation of the dish and how it is prepared and where the ingredients come from.
We will eat, report and photograph the whole event and feature it for one full month in two positions on the Global Ambassador site. As a changing monthly feature on the GA Home page section and as a permanently retained feature on the host country site.
Past events will be regularly added to an archive and, eventually, a series of books will be published, compiled from our adventures and featuring the families and recipes.
Each event will be sponsored by the relevant Government department with flights and accommodation provided for two guests, (myself and the photographer) to and from London and the host destination. Total trip to last no more than two nights in host country.
We believe this will be a fascinating series that will educate the World and fascinate millions of readers, providing low cost feature exposure for every tourism department in the World.
